7th Generation Brace (Ormco)
The brace that emerged as a result of the work of the Lingual Technique Ormco Task Force between 1980 and 1990 has remained unchanged for the last 20 years and is now being produced in its 7th Generation version.
The First Lingual Bracket
This was the first lingual brace that actually spread all over the world and was probably also the first brace that was developed specifically for the demands of the Lingual technique. The 7th Generation Brace has a horizontal slot for the arch wires just like most of the normal labial braces. The disadvantage of this construction is that rotation, particularly of the front teeth, is often difficult with this particular brace.
But it is very good for the vertical control of teeth positioning. However, by today’s standards, the 7th Generation Brace is quite big so, from the point of view of patient comfort, it is no longer the first choice. Nevertheless, it is still a tried and tested product for carrying out all kinds of treatment procedures. The 7th Generation Brace used to be the market leader but this position is now probably held by the Incognito-Bracket.
