MRT – Mandibular Joint
Sometimes in dentistry it is fashionable to do an MRT of the mandibular joint. However, MRT normally identifies numerous abnormalities that are neither significant from a prognosis point nor do they lead to any other treatment. So this is really a pointless diagnostic procedure that simply worries the patient and costs them a lot of money. MRT is normally indicated where there is severe pain that has persisted for several months and does not normally respond to normal treatment or to provide clarification before a planned surgical procedure on the mandibular joint.
