Cost of Treatment

The cost of CMD treatment is actually not covered by compulsory health insurance because the doctor can only claim a small fee for providing a consultation and a very small fee for the production of a splint/retainer. So these costs simply do not cover the work involved in investigating the anamnesis, clinical examination, consultation and explaining things to the patient. This is why CMD patients usually have to pay out of their own pockets if they want to obtain appropriate pain diagnosis and treatment. But the situation with private health insurance is better as enough funds are available to cover the time and effort put in.
