Panoramic X-Ray

The panoramic X-ray is the only imaging procedure that actually belongs to standard diagnosis. It is useful in excluding general pathological things such as fractures (broken bones), illnesses involving tumours and other bone disorders. But the panoramic X-ray contributes nothing to the actual diagnosis of muscle pain. It is important to stress that diagnoses such as arthrosis or a compressed jaw joint (narrow joint space) cannot be deduced with any certainty from a panoramic X-ray. Great care should therefore be exercised in interpreting such findings from the pictures.
