Since November 2018, both offices in Mannheim and Ludwigshafen (former practice) have been using Invisalign iTero® Intraoral Scanners. The iTero scanner allows us to replace classic impressions with impression trays and imprints with a simple tooth and jaw scan. The scanning of both jaws and a digital bite registration take about 10 minutes comparable to the silicone impressions, but are much more comfortable for the patient and just as accurate! The transfer of data is easy and can be managed in a matter of seconds via internet. As Invisalign® is manufactured in Central America this is another advantage.
A particular feature of the iTero scanner is the ability to generate a simulation of result at the push of a button and within minutes which can be viewed on the screen and, if desired, sent to the patient immediately, e.g. to the mobile phone. Anyone who sees the iTero scanner in action is almost always enthusiastic – just as we are regarding our entry into future digital orthodontics!
